Creacció leads Beyond the Urban, one of the thirty European networks working to improve urban areas.
The URBACT University, which took place between August 28th and 30th in the Swedish city of Malmö, kicked off the European networks linked to URBACT IV edition, an European learning and exchange program that promotes sustainable urban development. More than 400 representatives from around thirty networks attended, which will develop local integrated action plans to improve their cities.
One of these networks is Beyond the Urban, led by Creacció and in which 10 cities from nine European countries participate. The aim of this network is to develop comprehensive mobility plans between the rural areas and the urban centers of the participating cities and territories.
At the URBACT University, the network participants were able to immerse into the URBACT methodology and understand the main challenges and strategic objectives of the European Union that need to be considered. The representatives of Beyond the Urban worked at a global level in the plenary with all the participants, in the mobility hubs with about 40 people and with the 13 attendees of the Beyond the Urban network, with whom the first bonds were established.
The project coordinator, Mònica Carrera, will travel from September to November to all the municipalities and regions of the network in order to be able to present a joint action plan that will guide them for the next years and a half.
Besides Osona, Beyond the Urban also includes the cities of Bram (France), Bucharest (Romania), Hradec Kralove (Czech Republic), Kocani (North Macedonia), Machico (Portugal), Santa Maria da Feira (Portugal), Szabolcs (Hungary), Tartu (Estonia) and Treviso (Italy).
